Samsara

Samsara

by Cyril Morin

What is more important: Satisfying one thousand desires or conquering just one? A spiritual love-story set in the majestic landscape of Ladakh in the Himalayas, India, Samsara is the story of Tashi, a Buddhist monk’s quest and journey toward Self-Knowledge. Samsara echoes the struggle of every person to find spiritual Enlightenment, "Samsara" in Sanskrit translates as "the world within" or, as the Buddha says, "the cycle of life, delusion and suffering which all sentient beings are part of". French composer Cyril Morin has produced an extraordinary, soothing sonic journey that includes the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, chants from the Lamas and Nuns of Ladakh; Tibetan bowls, Bansuri, Indian flute, Duduk, Ney, Srangi, Lyre, Mongolian and Tibetan violins, guitar, sanza. The palette of sounds of these instruments and haunting vibrations have a mesmerizing and powerful effect that speak of the profound spiritual quest and longing that exists in all of us.

Freedom Chants from the Roof of the World

Freedom Chants from the Roof of the World

the Gyuto Monks

This is a masterful recording produced by Mickey Hart and recorded in the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York. The acoustics are thus awesome and celebrate the imminence of peace on earth. This has always been one of our top sellers. The production has an extraordinary energy behind it: recorded on a full moon with 5000 people in the Cathedral the monks were given instructions by the Abbot that, during the Mahakala Offering ritual, there was a moment in the chant when the monks visualised millions of "music deities" streaming forth from the mandala, blessing the world’s people and pleasing the world's deities by performing every conceivable type of music known to men on earth. The Abbott invited the musicians to perform during that visualisation as representing the heavenly musicians. Additionally, the Japanese keyboard artist Kitaro, was invited to join the ensemble and a special composition was crested. This musical recording was made in the spirit of solitude with the Gyuto monks.
A very special recording

Tibetan Tantric Choir

Tibetan Tantric Choir

The Gyuto Monks

This is an album of prayer, not performance. Whenever this recording is played its prayers are effectively said anew - though their power depends less upon mechanistic reproduction than on the degree of attention and compassion with which the listener joins in the experience. The first side is text chanted entirely by voices, without instrumental accompaniment and the second is both vocal and instrumental
